After 50 minutes of waiting, the limited express "Super Soya" No. 1 bound for Wakkanai, entered Sapporo Station at 7.35 a.m., 15 minutes before departure. I then boarded the Green Car section of the train, and settled into my seat. As I knew that the journey to Wakkanai would take 5 hours, I decided to bring my personal electronic devices to keep myself entertained. For most of the journey, the environment outside was covered in a blanket of snow. This video depicts the limited express "Super Soya" No. 1 bound for Wakkanai leaving Sapporo Station from inside the cabin.

Wakkanai is a small port city located in Soya Subprefecture in Hokkaido, Japan. It is the northernmost city in Japan and the Russian island of Sakhalin can be seen. Access to Wakkanai is very limited, being it by air or railway lines. JR Hokkaido runs two limited express trains on the JR Hakodate and Soya Main Lines 3 times a day. They are mainly the "Sarobetsu" and the "Super Soya".

The "Super Soya" is a limited express train service operating between Sapporo and Wakkanai in Hokkaido, Japan. There are only two trains per day running in each direction, with a travel duration of about 5 hours. Half of one car (Car no. 1) provides Green Car (first class) seating, which can seat up to only 9 passengers. This service mainly uses the KiHa 261 series DMUs.

With a journey time of approximately 5 hours, the "Super Soya" limited express service between Sapporo and Wakkanai is currently the longest limited express train ride I have ever taken in Japan. This eventually replaced my "Super Ozora" limited express train ride between Sapporo and Kushiro in December 2010. Until today, I am still proud of it.
