Graze count is very important in all touhou games besides Mountain of Faith

a normal graze count at this point in the game would be around 2,000, but by the end of the spell he's at 20,000. because of this, point icons are worth 20% more than usual instead of the 2% with a normal graze count. If the point score was 10,000, it means each icon is now worth 12000 points instead of 10,200 points. Considering in insane amount of point icons you'll get and it adds up over the course of the game.

In IN/PCB, collecting a certain # of blue items gives you lives.

@DragonierZapp You got your math wrong. The multiplier increases by 0.01x per 100 graze. This means that he would actually have 180% more point value than normal, or 10 times more than normal. But also, yes it adds up over the course of the game. Massively. This means you could win a Reimu C scoring competition that allows bombing and dying for score just by doing this and beating the game.

@Mespritroth Yeah, he's got it in his signature line for his posts on the Maidens of the Kaleidoscope Forums. The quote originated from a thread in Shmups Forums created by this one guy who was wondering how to change the keyboard controls for the Touhou games.

But posting about Touhou in that forum usually results in an unnecessary argument about the legitimacy of the Touhou games (difficulty comparisons, "who actually plays for score" and whatnot), and this thread was no exception.
