This is a result of project for some student interested in video compression methods. This shows rare fractal-based compression of the "Claire" sequence with my own encoder. I've used quadtree partitioning scheme with prediction. Current compression ratio is 140:1, but with compression of the quadtree itself (not only the blocks) and some motion compensation, higher compression ratio could be achieved.

  • well, I can't tell what the compression supposed to look like because of the youtube video compression on top of this one. Would it be possible to see an uncompressed or more lightly compressed video of the fractal video?

  • @SMWssaamm The artifacts you see comes from the fractal compression itself, not the YouTube's compression. You can see quadree partitioning (large blocks) and the more precise tiling on edges plus prediction artifacts - these looks very much like in MP4 compression.

  • I'm sorry. I rated the video as a 1, but I didn't mean it. It was on accident. Great Job!

  • oh thanks as well :)
