This is a "mini" houndstooth pattern, I call it the pinwheel. The "true" houndstooth pattern that we're all familiar with which requires either 4 heddle bars or a 4 harness loom or 3 ridig heddles on a rigid heddle loom frame. The one in this demo is pinwheel and is a minii version of what we normally call houndstooth and it doesn't require extra heddles or pick up sticks to make it.
The weaving draft and an example of the houndstooth pattern that we're all more familiar with is located on the main web site so, don't be afraid of string heddle bars (it's easier than you think) and do a full houndstooth pattern! It's not that hard, honest! Give it a try!
The pinwheel here is woven "tromp as writ", that is, warp same as weft. You can find the printed pattern at the associated Facebook Page or by visiting my main page at http://rigidheddleweaving.com/articles.php?page=pinwheelpattern

Thanks!!!
Careful! Weaving is addicting! LOL Please also stop by the main web page as I have other "plain weave patterns" that don't look like plain weave (like this one). And you can also find me on Facebook if you're into that. :D

I just purchased a vintage houndstooth sport coat, and I didn't know what houndstooth was or how it was created. So I searched here on youtube and found your video. It's very interesting and I thank you for the demonstration.

OOOPs sorry, I posted a reply to you with my alternate account...LOL Anyways...the pattern here is called pinwheel and the houndstooth that's in your coat will most likely be the one that's shown on my main website which requires a four harness loom. I have pictures of an example of such weaving on the site and the pattern required to make it. Please do check my web site for that...and hope you join us in weaving! :D
