Miss Iowa Diana Reed took down the house with this preliminary talent winning twirling routine at the 2008 Miss America preliminary competition. Although this former University of Iowa Golden Girl got eliminated during the finals right before she was able to showcase her upbeat routine to "You Can't Stop the Beat," she was the only contestant to receive a standing ovation during the talent competition. This is the Miss America talent that should have been broadcasted for America to see!!

woah! This is amazing!- I love it and I am so upset that she didn't get to perform it in the finals- se deserved it!
You could totally tell how much work she had put into it, and her energy and love for what she does- I wish she had won a talent award, or come out with any other prize- and an excellent routine and music choice- I love hairsray, especially that song, " You can't stop the beat"!

Neither can I. Which is why I admire those who can, all the more. Some twirlers are so good at it, the baton's motion is almost hypnotic!

Talent should definitely COUNT for more in Miss America...while it is percentage-ly the highest, judges often do not give out points accordingly. This was a WONDERFUL performance!!!

haha its a bit different when ur on a stage with no height and lots of lights shining on u hun... plus the non twirling audience wouldnt appreciate the difficulty that could potentially cause unecessary drops...

Increadable one of the best tallents I have ever seen on the contest, and pulling off three batons that is the only part they showed when she was voted out as she was crossing the stage to the other side. I wish the let all the finalists show their tallent its such a letdown sometimes.
