Travel with us at ChineseClass101.com almost 500 km away from the bright lights of Beijing as Gail shows Anthony around her hometown of the tiny village of 龙河 (Longhe). When we asked Gail how old her village was, she said "As long as human history", and then she said it was founded during the Song dynasty (960-1279).

In this video, Gail takes us to her local hometown market. Whether you want to buy some shoes or a tasty snack, the local market is the place to be. Since this market is only open once every five days, it is quite an experience. Afterwards we talk to a basket weaveving family that has been in business for generations.

  • Shandon dialect is still very near to mandarin. When you come to the south, it's impossible for others to understand local's saying if they dont speak mandarin.

  • yeah it was hahahahahha!
