This motor was built with just two coils of magnet wire and a 6-volt battery. The trick is that the top coil lamination is removed from just one side of each end. This was a grade 6 science project as part of the Scientist in Residence Program of the Vancouver School Board in Vancouver, Canada. Something to try is to move a magnet near the top of the top coil. What will happen?
