GUITAR LESSONS: http://bit.ly/TrueFire

Derived in part from "country" guitar, twang is really a modern hybrid of blues, country, rock and jazz guitar. Players like Albert Lee, Arlen Roth, Danny Gatton, Johnny Hiland, Ray Flacke, Leon McAuliffe, Brent Mason, Chet Atkins, Scotty Anderson, Red Volkaert, James Burton and Jimmy Bryant all have their own classic Big Twang signature sound and technique. But today, contemporary players across all styles have incorporated twang influences in their signature sounds.

  • Mr. Dalton, if you are by chance reading this, I am interested in buying a recording you did of "Panhandle Rag" you did on your 1990s instruction video for HotLicks. Is that performance available for sale to the public, other than on the tape (which I already own)?

  • I don't stretch for those voicings like Johnny Smith. I play standard drop 2 chords and hit the lowest tone with an octave harmonic like Lenny Breau. It's much easier and more comfortable. On the other hand, you can strum them and I can't.

  • hi! :) great video but iv been playing blues for a while now and i gonna try some country now but do you guys hawe any tips on getting country tone? what effects etc?

    thanks

  • Thanks for all Joes videos, ESPECIALLY this one. I just love these lovely fat chord shapes, and I find it has a wealth of information to be studying, practicing, and using in my playing. The other one with pedal steel bends is fantastic too.

    Thanks again.

  • @ZoonosisG Joe says : change 'em !

  • I like this lesson cause its kinda like a secret chord weapon lol. Not many players use it much anymore. Its perfect suited for old school swing.

  • joe is not the one uploading this video guys...this one is the best, very cool stuff.

  • Joe - what do you do about 'sticky' strings?

  • Great guitar lesson

Gonna go out and get this DVD today!!
