Congressman Steve Cohen talks shop with the University of Memphis Tigers Head Football Coach Larry Porter. In the second half of the program, the Congressman hosts special guest Joe Warren, a veteran, a hero of the labor and civil rights movements and a founder of AFSCME Local 1733. The two talk about Mr. Warren's recent visit to the White House, where he was recognized for his early work on behalf of the sanitation workers whose struggle culminated in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s tragic final trip to Memphis. Mr. Warren also shares a few stories about his experiences in World War II, for which he was recently awarded several medals he had earned but had never been presented.
I really enjoyed watching the Joe Warren interview. You can really learn a lot from listening to the elders. I was a young boy during all of that mess and the truth is, there was a lot I didn't even know about. There's still a lot that I do not know, but thanks for a little more insight into things by my watching your Congressional Report. Keep up the good work and please sign the "Contract for the American dream" if you haven't already done so. Take Care and God Bless.
