Pookie thanks for posting. You and Barbara should know that we 'Step' to her record and others of the genre every 2nd and 4th Fridays at the 50 Yardline Club on 75th and Michigan,Chicago. I 'Walked' to her original release at Herb Kent's record hops back in the day. I will make sure our DJ 'The Quiet Man' plays this gem for our 12/16/08 set. Barbara, Thank You, from Chicago's Bronzeville Steppers...................

How can one get this song (young boy) in an ITunes library ? It is hauntingly - beautiful, and it makes me think about those days when love was new. Truly this is one of the all- time best. Thanks for the memories Barbara.

Hi Barb.I just want to let you know that your singing has brought a lot more joy to a lot more people than you can imagine.I still have your records, and treasure them.Though we lived not so far apart in '64,I didn't see you at any of your appearances.I can't remember seeing you on Jim Lounsberry's show, or what you said about being on TV in your interview with my friend Bob Abrahamian on his radio program.I was 16 then & thought you were an adult in your 20s.Glad to know you've had a good life.

Glad to see Barbara getting notice from younger people."Young Boy" is one of my top 10 all time favourite songs, and I've probably listened to over a million in my lifetime.I lived in South Chicago in 1964,and listened to WVON,and when I heard that song,I ran out and bought it right away.I was shocked to find out in an interview of her this year that she was only 13 at the time.I bought "A Lover's Plea" too, and "Long Tall Sally" on ATCO also. But I was devastated that she had no more releases.

Hello Ms. Green. I was all of 4 years-old when you cut this song & I had no idea that you were as young as you were. Your voice was so mature, yet sweet in that innocent Chi-Town sound given us back then by ladies such as yourself, Denise Chandler, Candace Love, Diane Cunningham, JoAnn Garrett & of course, Minnie Riperton.
Thanks for giving us some fond memories of days that felt so much less complicated than these, before I learned far more than I ever wanted to know. May God bless you.
Wow what a voice for one so young.Great post.

thanks for the kind words. her talent at that age was indeed quite amazing. so much so that motown heard this and came courting. her parents wouldn't let her sign!!! too young they said.
