Yesterday, Ford Motor Company announced quarterly earnings of almost a billion dollars, marking the first time the company has drawn a profit in North America since 2005. Do you think this is a promising sign for the company's future or just a temporary turnaround? Ford was the only major American automaker that did not take government bailout money. Do you think other auto companies like General Motors and Chrysler should have shied away from government assistance? Do these improved sales figures make you more likely to consider buying a Ford vehicle?
There was no mention that Ford is closing some plants in Canada, even though they are making money.

Ford is the only viable American manufacturer left but I still own a Toyota, because the Japanese build more reliable cars. If you want quality and reliability it is hard to beat Japanese.

Absolutely no mention of the "Cash for Clunkers" program.
