Recently, Milorad Dodik, the controversial prime minister of the Serb-majority part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, made public comments suggesting that Bosnian Muslims had staged two notorious attacks against them during Bosnia's bloody civil war, presumably to win the support of the international community. The comments created an uproar among many Bosnians and received condemnation from the international communities high representative in the country. One of the two locations of the massacres, the city of Tuzla, has now brought formal charges against Dodik for inciting hatred and intolerance.

We went to the capital of Republika Srpska, Banja Luka, to ask Dodiks political advisor what the prime minister meant by his comment. What follows is an unedited version of his response.

This report is part of Pulitzer Center-sponsored project "Bosnia: Fragile States - Halting the Slide Toward Failure" (http://bit.ly/wzPBWN).

  • Gordan Milosevic's logic is screwy anyway.

A lot of German soldiers were killed in World War II. That doesn't make Germany and the U.S. somehow equally responsible for the Holocaust.

  • Charlayne Hunter-Gault conducted some of the worst interviews during the Bosnian war in the '90s (for The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour, in the United States). She would ask Radovan Karadžić a question, he would reply with long-winded non-answers and absurdities, she would nod professionally, and then she'd ask the next question.

I thought I'd never see such awful interviews again.

Who was the amateur that conducted this non-contextualized "interview", and what is achieved by posting it here?

  • aaaaa this guy is Gordan Milosevic ooo EVIL KILLER.

  • What bothering me is that journalist don't ask right questions and don't stops this empty talk which this bummer give as an answer.

  • Of course Gordan Milosevic's logic is screwy and pitiable, of course that Serb APOLOGIST continuously using exactly this logic to justify what Serbia and Bosnian Serbs loyal to Serbian politics and ideology toward Bosnia did during 1990's. Of course that people do not apologize for Dresden or Hiroshima even if we today think some of those response were excessive, we all know where responsibility lies. So, this guy Milosevic making a very superficial and unintelligent argument.

  • alien53XF13Nd --- MAjority asked for independence , You think referendum was legal ...

THEY should have thought about this before the war ,,, MAIN reason for war is that SERBS do not want to live under Mulsim domination , THEY kicked 150.000 Serbs from Sarajevo ... WE should have out own republic ... THAT is the only way Serbs will live in PEace in Bosnia , Plus RAdical ISLAM is spreading , I see trouble AHEAD .

  • they have their own state its called serbia. bosnia was apart of yugoslavia, not the other way around and the vast mijority of pople in bosnia asked for independance from the so called serbia version of yugoslavia, which was more about national socialism than a democracy. and dont bitch you still have republic of srpska...

  • humblemouse81 --- WHY did not westerners respect theritorial integrity of Yugoslavia , ha 1990 ????

WHY they recognized Slovenia , Croatia Bosnia , Kosovo Macedonia , ha ???

Plus KOSOVO was not a state but province inside Serbian theritory ...

    Independent Serbian Republic , 2010

We can live ok IF Russian recognize us .. like Ossetia and Abhazia . it is OK ... Like KOSOVO . SAme thing .

  • He is comparing comments made by religious leaders/qwaks and elected representatives of the people? Apples and oranges. And this POS is basically saying well, the genocide we the Serb people committed upon catholic Bosnian s and Muslim Bosnians is not thaaat big of a deal.

  • Exactly, this is not ONLY about numbers it's about who did what and the facts speak volumes: serbia & montenegro sent their armies to independent and internationally recognized countries to wage war. Bosnians didn't go to Serbia to shoot people in the back and throw them into ditches likes the Scorpions did in Srebrenica.

  • The state borders are internationally recognized and cannot be changed to satisfy certain peoples dreams of homogenic and ethnically clean nazi-states.

Taking Kosovo from Serbia was WRONG, but it is equally wrong to let Rep. Srpska exist because not ONE single state recognizes it's existance and it has no future whatsoever.

  • - Very smart man ,, Every nation in former Yugoslavia was given a state ,, But Serbs in Bosnia can not have their state ... Independent Serbian Republic ,,,2010.
