Jeep Grand Cherokee 2005 Hemi Recall Door Panel Issue

This is a video tutorial of my 2005 Grand Cherokee. I'm uploading to see if anyone else has this same problem with their 2005 model Jeeps. The door panels are breaking apart and rendering my doors inoperable from the inside which is leading to a safety issue! Jeep won't issue a recall and after countless calls, all they're willing to offer me is 50% off of the repair. Guess what!? That's still $1050 that I can't afford! CLASS ACTION TIME IF THEY WON'T OFFER A RECALL! UPDATE: Not sure if anyone has a class action suit, but Denlors tools is offering a kit that seems to fix the issue for around $200 or even cheaper, there are repair kits on eBay from $25/30 per door handle and they even come with new chrome handles.

Have the same problem . All 4 doors are broken with no handles to open the doors from the inside . I replaced the drivers door panel and it has already broken . It is a major concern for me and my family . Please include me in any action taken . Thank you .

@hondo74rdking Check out the replacement/repair kits on eBay for $25/door. Totally worth it and well made too.

I have the exact same issue on my 05 Grand Cherokee Hemi . I replaced 1 door panel last year. Now the other 3 have failed. Does anyone have a suit going or any other helpful info

@MrMarkBoca Sorry I never got one started, I went back to school and don't have the time to invest in it. I'll probably contact Jeep corporate soon though and notify them that others are getting the repair fully comp'd. Maybe they'll give me a refund and/or credit.

I've contacted an attorney here in Austin that has handled some class action suits before. This was after Jeep offered me a $1500 copay for my 4doors. I can be contzcted at rmartin008@gmail.com if you want to know whats happening.

I just replaced my handles ..30 bucks each... Parts Pros Ebay...

better than 425 each panel... x 4 plus installation...

I love my 2005 Cherokee 5.7L Hemi. It has 135,000 miles and basically all I've done is change the oil and the tires. But who would use cheap plastic as a fulcrum in a door handle lever, that just doesn't make any sense. The rear passenger door handle support is completely broken and after reading this thread I checked the others, only the passenger side has no cracks. I have photos if anybody could use them for evidence. Thanks for creating this thread.

I have a 05 Cherokee that I have owned since it had 5 miles on it... I have this same problem on 3 of my 4 doors... I have also brought this up to my Jeep dealer and got the same response back...

I have a 06 Jeep grand Cherokee with hemi, and my drivers door has already broken out like your with cracks starting in the other 3.

I have the same problem. Thanks for posting this. I actually beat myself up for not taking better care of my car.

I'm still working on a class action, but in the mean time all of my handles have now broken with the last two in front hanging by a thread... so I now have to do a "temporary repair" using an aftermarket handle I bought on Ebay. Everyone needs to remember that any repair you do should only by considered a temporary repair for safety reasons. This is the responsibility of Jeep/Chrysler and I plan to document my repair and keep the old handles for evidence.

@Tonystone1203 You won't need to reinforce the new doors. All of the stock from the original 2005 doors has been depleted and the original door part has been deprecated. The part has been superseded twice and the original part was probably only faulty due do a bad resin mix from whoever Jeep contracted with. FYI, you can also buy replacement kits on eBay for $25/door now. My father just installed two of them and they seem to be well constructed.
