I happened to think that this would be a good time to do a comparison with my Martin soprano ukulele's. They all currently have Aquila strings. The first is a Martin style 1 mahogany from around 1918/1919, the second a style 1 koa from around 1924 to 1926, and the third a style 3 mahogany from 1918 to 1922. All 3 sound great and I hope the mic on my camcorder does them justice. I need to make a correction in that I say in the video that the style 3 has a wood bridge.....I should have said I believe it is "bone". I am not the best player, but I hope you will send me your comments on what you think about the 3 and how they sound.
Note that I do not own the rights to any of the music, and I play it just for fun.

  • I love the 3M the most, but they are all fantastic ukes

  • @Quack4Zac Thank you very much! The 3M is a very nice uku for sure.

  • Nice video, and a wonderful trio of early Martin ukes. I'd love to see more of that style 3 in a close-up video... Please? :) And if you want experiment with strings on your Martins, try Worth clear medium. Keep strumming!

  • @ukulelezaza I think I can manage to do that for you, and thank you very much for the advice!

  • They all have sweet sound. but, I pick the second ukulele.:-)

  • @TessOh1 The koa style 1 does have a very nice sound. I very much appreciate the comment.

  • @UkesterBrown Thank you very much for the comment. I am always thinking that I am at least one Swagerty short myself :)

  • I think there is a big difference in tone of the M's vs the K. The Koa sounds brighter to me. I would choose the 3M, but I know I'm prejudiced towards them esthetically. Thanks for the demo, but you need one more Swaggerty to round out that collection now!

  • @ukedaman I really appreciate it.

  • The differences are subtle. They all sound sweet. You have quite a collection.
