@Topagent567 he means the electronics that take control of the car...on new toyotas you can never fully turn off the traction control or 'helpful' electronics. And my mum owns a 2010 landcruiser which is designed specifically designed for offroading however i still managed to short circuit the air con fan going through water. New 4wds are all plastic these days, old landcruisers, old jeeps are the way to go

@Topagent567 honestly FJs are good off-roaders but will always be second best to Jeeps, my brother just bought an Fj cruiser and those things have so much electronics that restrict your off-road driving, and they have IFS which really sucks.

@chowner A DJ is part of what a Wrangler was before it was known as a Wrangler. And yes there WERE 2WD TJs and YJs sold in the US. Have you ever seen a RHD mail Jeep? Usually used in rural areas, they had dead solid beam front axles.

@chowner please stop posting, the JK was by far, NOT the first Jeep to have 4WD as an OPTION. Look up what a Jeep DJ is, and also realize there were commercial versions of the YJ and TJ available that were 2WD.
