This was filmed on the way to a live broadcast on Poland Radio Dwojka in Warszawa (which was a blast- thanks Piotr and everyone). It being clear that I was a musician from the fact I was carrying a fiddle, banjo, guitar and bajo sexto, the other folks in the compartment asked me to play some music to pass the time. The video was shot by Zdzislaw Fogiel, who was sitting across from me (dziekuje!)
Sometimes it's good to have air conditioning and privacy, but I think it can be destructive in large doses. Plus, the food in the humbler trains is way better and cheaper than in the more upwardly mobile ones.

  • You are a damn good amasador of the US. IF there were more people like you out there playin for the world the US might not look like a bunch of Assholes. Very fine playin. Is that what Clarence Ashley would call "Sawmill" tune?

  • @blueridger28 Thanks- I've heard people call it sawmill but I don't really know what that means.

  • awesome! what tuning are you in?

  • same as for sugar baby. E something something I think...

  • That's amazing...fasola on the banjo. I'm a banjo player and fasola singer, how do you do it?

  • Well, if you can sing it I'm sure you can play it. You just need a good keynote.

  • Tim This was a great video because of the people and the train! The song is perfect for this kind of time passing away isnt it.. Perhaps one day you could do a video with that clawhammer playing on a old train or old flat box car.. Keep the traditional songs alive.. You are carrying a big torch that must not go out.. Remember that.

  • That sweet smile on the girl says it Best. Fantastic stuff Thanks.

  • My favourite of Tim's versions of this great "Sacred Harp" dong on

    Youtube.

  • Wonderful Tim... A Celtic thank you from Canada!

  • 274 on the top. Sacred Harp

  • @silasbanjo Ahh haha! Dohh! Do I feel stupid now :) Always the easiest obvious sollution that is the correct one. Instead I was thinking of "tra la la" or even a religious meaning etc. haha. Thanks for clearning that up :)

  • @QRS666 Its notes as in do rei me so la fa ti do :-)

  • Can anoyne tell me what the lyrics for the first verse is? fa a sola, sola la etc. Is it just like "la la la "etc. or does it mean something? I know the rest of the lyrics btw.

  • I keep coming back, listening to this song...Sir, your voice is amazing and so is your banjo playing and all the wonderful spots you pick to play and sing!

  • I find the settings for Tim eriksen's live performances especially striking e.g. platying outside in freezing temperatures. For me that says a great deal about the quality of the music.

  • Certain verses of the song are the same as "I'm Going Home" that are often sung by Sacred Harp singers! Cool stuff man.

  • @batfancy Clarence Tom Ashley called g sus 4 or gDGCD sawmill tuning . . This is wonderful Tim .. Stop by if you are ever in Bantam , Yours Guy
