I always figured Ares couldn't go into Japan it was little out of his territory. Otherwise I have no doubt Ares would have shown up to rescue her just like he saved her from Cal(sp?). I've always taken Soul Possession as the real ending (because it's in the future) so I think of their battle as ongoing. Was I the only one who noticed Xena never actually read the second scroll that Ares destroyed?
