Nice to see the New York Post cover this in, gasp, relatively fair and balanced way.
The Rockefeller family/Chase Manhattan Bank/Federal Reserve/Council on Foreign Relations think they rule the world. Bunch of inbred, life-negating bores. Rockefeller Center purports to be a monument to capitalist opportunity but is really a monument to corporate fascism and the kind of radical nationalism the Bush crime family promotes.
Oh "Notsocoldsoup." you are so wrong. I will obviosly remove or asked to remove someone if that person is naked in public. That is being disrecpecful to the community and there private areas to do that. Also, a court house is an official place and private office for the jugdes and the court. These guard were just very uncomfortable with the trangender community. The families that were there were taking pictures and the kids love the costumes and the hats they made.
yes they will, and they will also remove homeless people and people in bikinis. If a nudist claims being nude is his identity, is asking him to leave therefore an affront to his identity and thus discrimination? No. These drag queens were simply in the wrong venue.
MastaPokerPlaya you have a very different idea of decency than other people. in any case, if you go in front of a courthouse dressing like a vegas showgirl, you'd be removed as well. it has nothing to do with discrimination. some people need to stop crying discrimination at every turn of the corner.
bikewer, wrong comparison. this isn't about gay or straight. they were blatant and disruptive. as I said, they'd also remove a bunch of clowns or pantomimes. it's a business place, private property, etc. they dressed like they're street performers or it's mardi gras, which is disruptive and an eyesore to the area when it's not those occasions. they weren't removed the second time because it wasn't a parade and they weren't being disruptive that time.
Lets assume for a minute your argument about "Disruption of space" is correct then the officer should have informed them of the rules. The officer failed to do that and instead asked them to leave with a very rude attitude. They knew they were doing something wrong as they did not want it to look at the camera. The police arrive shortly and they said it was okay for them to be there.. I guess THEY KNOW BETTER!
it may be a 'public space', but it's privately owned. I think the concern was to maintain the family atmosphere. your idea of a family atmosphere may be different than someone else's. the city does not own rockefeller center. it is private property

A more reasonable observation than the first post...

So, we're to the point of removing people from public places because they appear to be an "eyesore" to some viewers?
Hmmmm, lots of straight people are rather unattractive as well....
