David Charles was brought to Barnes-Jewish Hospital after having suffered a series of three strokes within a 24-hour period. He was diagnosed with PFO - Patent Foramen Ovale, which is a hole in the septum (wall) in between the two chambers of the heart. PFO puts one at risk for stroke. He talks about his experience at Barnes-Jewish, both before the operation to repair the septum and his recovery, which took place in less than 48 hours. Dr. Lasala did the procedure.
