the LSX 454 motor retails $12,000 - $14,000... pretty penny but worth it in every way
-
so how much will the actual engine cost
thinking of swaping
-
they should have came like that from the factory
-
is it normal for your intake manifold to make a slight ticking noise?

@VayLoc310 Good Motor yes. You and your Grandfather did a Great job Keeping the upkeep on that Motor and trans . I Bit the Car is Clean ? Real Clean ? O And yes if you are going to put a new oil pump in it. I would just go for a new motor ? or Short Block at least & have The Heads R+R ! Trans your call ? that's the most you would need . To keep it Running for about a other 200,000 Miles! See Ya.

@irocx29 I haven't had the car for 26 years, but the car is 26 years old and has logged almost 200,000 miles, I got the car in 2006 when my grandfather passed, and the car had 96,000 miles on it, I've almost another 90 some thousand miles on it, and now the motor is starting to show her age a lil bit, what I really need to do is do a compression test, if the cylinders are fine, then I'll put in a new oil pump and replace all the gaskets, but my plan is to drop in a new motor & trans anyway.

@VayLoc310 well see you . irocx29 out.

@VayLoc310 well that's not bad at all for a 1984 Monte Carlo with a 305 v8 . Miles ? ? ? How much miles did you put on that 305 in 26 years ? My 305 only got about 98,000 Miles all my other motors that was 307, 350 ,305, 396, got 100,000 to 120,000 Miles I change my OIL 3,000 Miles or less. but I use too Drive all my motor hard at time's. and the 454 was my Best motor that ran hard and had the most Miles. No work on the motor at all ! it had 150,000 Miles + ! ty.

That ZO6 makes 880 RWHP.....on low boost!
The LSX454 motor needs a larger intake manifold for sure. Even the 102mmLSXr isn't enough.
