Why modify it? You can't buy better pickups or electronics.

I bought mine new in 1978 - one of the very first made - I have tried every guitar on the planet since then, and none compares to my T60. Love it and I will never change!

how do you find out what year it is?? i have one that looks like a really old model but its very well taken care of... i wanna know the year

i have a peavey t60, not sure what year it is but, the fretboard is wearing out..

I got my T-60 in 1978. I love it. I want to be buried with it. If angels played electric guitars I bet more than a few of them would be playing T-60's. (Just kidding about that last). It's too bad they don't make them anymore.
It's really gratifying to me to see so many videos of this great instrument here on YouTube. Thanks to everyone who puts one up.

I got an 1979 Peavey T-60 on Ebay..
My seller name is kojo.mojo2719...
And yes it is a excellent guitar..>

The Peavey T-60 was my first electric guitar. I bought one new around 1978 but after going a long time without an amp traded it for a Yamaha 12 sting acoustic a few years after that :(
Neat guitar but at around 10 lbs it weighs more than a Les Paul. Built like a brick shit house. A place in town about 15 years ago had one as a rental 'cause they said it was indestructable!

Agreed. The most underrated American guitar on the planet. I've owned an '87 natural/maple fretboard the last 16 yrs. Gonna get an ivory nut thrown on it. The original was just trashed. When I play, I alternate evenly, between my American Strat, Paul and my T-60. If you have any maintenance advice otherwise, I'd love to hear it, cuz I will NEVER sell it :)

For 275 shipped I just bought a 1979 model in natural color - patent applied for model, with the ugly orange lined case- I cant wait for it to get here. It will be my third

A friend of mine has this same guitar; I messed around with it yesterday. It weighs, like, 9,000lbs, and I could probably get it for free.
How much are they generally worth totally stock and in great shape?

Is the flat sound from just another utube recording ?or does the guitar have that high mid spike that peavey amps are known for.Stiff too, sorry, maybe some delay or compression?Peace out, Moses
bought mine new in early 1982 for about
$375. Wouldn't take a $1000 for it

You can still find them for about that same price.
I find that astounding, but I'm not complaining - I have 4 of them and I would never sell any of them.
The day will come when they'll be worth a lot more than $1000, and guess what?
I still won't sell them.
I'd only squander the money on food and bills anyway . .
