I don't know, they are pretty damn underrated. Sweetness and The Middle could have been enough to get them the popularity you suggest. But they have Hear You Me, Pain, Big Casino, Lucky Denver Mint, Work, and even more songs. They deserve to be more popular, but it makes me smitten to know that I listen to great music that others don't! :D

Why does it irritate them? The Middle and Sweetness is their signature song. You get mad when people say they love Metallica and only ever heard the black album? Does it bother you when people say they love Zeppelin and they have only heard Stairway to Heaven? It shouldn't bother you, it just shows that bands have a way to reach the masses. That's difficult when bands do it on sheer talent alone
