  • Makes since to me... finally someone with the guts to say what needs to be said.

  • Excellent. All these candidates need our support; let's make this election what we want it to be, not what we're told it's going to be.

  • Her closeness to the DCCC, Pelosi, Patty Murray et. al. = being part of the establishment.

Cindy Sheehan's an opponent of the war.

  • She hasn't even been elected yet! How can she be part of the establishment? For the record, she's one of the strongest opponents of the war now running for Congress.

  • Yes, you are correct. The House controls the purse strings. However, this is done with an appropriations bill. So for example Dennis Kucinich has proposed another one in 2007 that would have stopped the war: HR 1234 (110th congress). It's not gone anywhere even though there are 234 Democrats and 201 Republicans. It's not even out of committee.

The ones that make it out of committee and go to the Senate get killed there.

  • Burner's running for the House. The House controls the purse strings with a simple majority vote. The Dems have caved to Bush repeatedly and with even less justification over the last two years.

  • This is really not possible. The Democrats don't have enough votes in the Senate to overcome a phillibuster. It takes 60 votes. We barely have 48. One Democrat has been out with a stroke. The other might as well be a Republican.

  • She's part of the same Democratic establishment that have continued to fund and support Bush's illegal wars.

  • The people in the beltway are being fed by a nice feeding trough. They don't care to stop the permawar.

It's time to stop the war. Quit funding it.

  • What a refreshing young patriot. This is the kind of candidate that should be supported for the good of all. Feingold and Kucinich, etc., need some decent collegues in Washington. Root out the rotten wood in the House and Senate, and replace them with some decent human beings who really stand for what the majority of Americans stand for.
