@ZoomZip I think the big reason is the net serve rule change (and of course the progression of the game). Back then, any serve touching the net was a sideout. Now players can take a rip and not worry about it.

why is the float serve so prominent , unlike modern times where rare standing float and its all jump serve?

i'm a big fan of the US Men's Volleyball Team and i thank you very much for this upload. I followed their games wayback 1988 (Seoul Olympics) and it's nice that I could play these games back all over again. Among them, Bob Ctvrtlick rocks!
