Door County Folk Festival Dancing on Sister Bay Pier

After the Saturday evening Fish Boil Dinner in Sister Bay Park (between 7pm or so and sunset), Festival participants (and innocent bystanders) continue the tradition of dancing from the Sister Bay Park, out onto Sister Bay Pier, and back around the Fish Boil Fire Pit, and into Sister Bay Village Hall. Anyone can join in this dance procession done to music provided by the Camp Choir, Staff Musicians and Instructors and other musicians.

Hundreds of people take part in what is one of the most dazzling and breathtaking scenes in Door County. On Saturday, July 7, 2007, Balkan Cabaret (Seattle, WA), Tri Bratovchedki (Madison, WI) and other camp musicians provided music for participants as they danced into the sunset on Sister Bay Pier.

The Door County Folk Festival (DCFF) is one of the most fun-filled, enjoyable and recreational and educational dance weekends held in the Midwest. Each year, the DCFF attracts hundreds of participants to Door County, Wisconsin, from all around the U.S., Canada and often other countries. The Festival begins on the Wednesday following Independence Day and continues through Sunday. The Festival continues a tradition of enjoyable, extended July weekends where you can dance (as late into the night as you wish), sing, play, learn, share experiences, eat, party and make new friends in a congenial, relaxed, community atmosphere. The Festival also offers a Teacher Continuing Education Program. Participants are a multi-ethnic, multi-generational community of people who enjoy the dances and music of many countries and ethnic groups from around the world.
