I just got GOUGED by Bell, saying I went over my LIMIT!! I monitor my usage, but I can't argue with them. They have NO dispute resolution process (CRTC IS AN EFFIN' JOKE) & no RECOURSE WHATSOEVER. END THE MONOPOLIES!!!!!!! I'm charged extra on my land line telephone because I live in a rural area.....I'm in a GD sub-division!!!!! Rural, my ass AND who cares! INTERNET IS GLOBAL & SHOULD BE FREE!!! WHO OWNS IT??????

Good to see the conversations starting. That's always a first step. The real trick will be to hold whomever wins accountable. Assuming they pledge their support.

@UnknownMeAsif Check out Openmedia's site and take a look at the candidates in your riding and if they have signed up to ensure that the future of Canada's internet remains open and neutral. Openmedia is a non-partisan organisation and will not support one party over another, but the political platforms of the NDP and Green parties are fully against the implementation of a UBB system in Canada.
Do some research and contact the candidates in your riding to make sure you vote for the internet.

Let's not be unfair here guys, the Conservatives are great at maintaining the status quo. Colbert said it best, "You get what you pay for." Unless you are NOT OK with having the most expensive internet and cell phone bills, you almost have to vote conservative.
I won't lie, I would love to vote Green but I just don't think the candidate in my riding has what it takes to address the issues I care about most, and so I went NDP in the special ballot. A vote for the left is a vote for the future.
-
so if i am against UBB, can openmedia tell me which is the best party to vote?
-
This SHOULD BE an election issue.

Yep with the Green Party we would not be leaving gauging of radiation levelsd in japan up to the ones that have the most to loose. It's been a LEVEL 7 OUT OF 7 for weeks now. And for sure I do not believe this statement in the press.:Officials reassure B.C. public about radiation in milk .. Is this why some west coast states are already warning pregnant woman to switch to powder milk? We need a GREEN PARTY .

@jtgoodwrench "Elisabeth May has great new ideas"-- I thought her idea of a national anti-pot campaign similar to the anti-smoking one the country has adopted was a particularly stellar idea. Attacking a significant percentage of the people that would possibly vote Green is so brilliant that the Conservatives, NDP or Liberals would never think of it.
-
NDP would have my vote, easily.
Conservative response = "lie, lie, lie, lie" = the CRTC's decision to allow Bell to implement UBB on resellers was totally NOT in favour of market competition and it took half a milliion Canadians signing the openmedia.ca petition to see a response. Conservatives aren't for Net Neutrality, they are facist corporatists. The Liberals are not far behind. A vote for Greens or NDP is the smarter choice.

Are all conservatives pathological liars? Nothing what that Mike character said was concrete on the matter of answering the questions about Usage Based Billing or anything else. How do Canadians continually vote for these douchebags?
The truth of the matter is Stephen Harper has close ties to his own appointed members of the CRTC which are former employees of Bell and Rogers. Does anyone actually believe Conservatives are working for the best interests of Canadians... or corporations?
