A clip from the widely celebrated feature film that follows life on Mackinac Island throughout an entire year. The film highlights the island's wild, mysterious and beautiful winters, and traces the formation of a spectacular phenomenon known as an "Ice Bridge." @achilles6312 There is still alot of traffic on the island with the horse carriages, dreys, bicycle traffic ect. The roads are still maintained by the local police so the roads need to be official. Also M-185 is an official highway that wraps around the whole island (this includes the main street scene you see in the video) so the lines are required. Most of the other roads on the island do not have the lines, but as I said, because M-185 is an official highway it is required to have all the

if you can't drive on the island, why is there a road with lanes?

The cracks in the ice are no big deal at all, it is just the ice's inability to flex that causes them. Water then flows into the crack and it refreezes. The ice we use here in Colorado for ice racing has like 30 times the number of cracks as that.

where can I find this movie? I have checked several video stores and my public library and they do not carry it. Thanks.

@Rushthatspeaks Mackinac Island is an actual island that is 8 miles in circumference. About 400 to 500 people live on the island year-round ("islanders") but the population swells in the summer season due to seasonal workers. About 1 million people visit the island during the tourist season May-Oct - high season June-Aug. The island is open year-round, but most businesses close in Oct and reopen in May. Most islanders live in the town toward center of the island. Beautiful spot to vacation.

Of all the films about Mackinac Island, this one is a "real film." I'm so glad this was made. I met the filmmaker - wonderful guy. The film's a joy and it does what all film should, it focuses on a niche of our world and creates a story arc. Great job I consistently recommend this film - Steve Sulkin, Filmmaker and Summer Resident of Mackinac Island

Except they didn't have snow mobiles in the early 1900's haha.

Yes it is a full town, not like your typical town with a mcdonalds or burger king. No vehicles are allowed on the island. Its like a town set in the early 1900's.. Lots of people live on the island, some all year long.
