The bumbling VTTP takes to the skies above Seaford, East Sussex, this time with a Vivitar DVR-410 taped to the fuselage!

This camera gives great colours and clarity in comparison with the DVR-200 and DVR-550 (it has a CCD instead of a CMOS sensor, which helps...).

However, the .ASF files are a nightmare to convert afterwards, and generally results in a jumpy picture with out-of-sync audio :-( Not bad for £30 on ebay, but back to the drawing board for Vivitar...

Personally, I'm now on the quest for an HD camera! Bosch :-D

  • I used to have one of these! damned if I can remember where I got it though, do you know if the kit for the VTTP is still in production / where I could possibly get one?

  • I think Inwood Models used to sell it, but yes I have hardly found any info on this anymore. Its a great plane, mine is in its 3rd rebuild with extended wings, two wing spars and a full brushless motor and LiPo battery setup - test flight and videos coming soon!

  • how high was that?!

  • I would love to know myself! At least over 1,000ft. I've thought of getting some sort altimeter recorder!

  • I liked that. My first experience with a camera plane was in the early 80s, an old wise guy who put a VHS camcorder on a 9 foot gasoline powered plane and flew it at our field in California. We did some scenes where he dove it into the field and we all scattered as it approached. Great thrill movie stuff. This same plane was also used to drop 5 pound watermelons. If I ever fly again, I will probably put a helmet cam on my Gentle Lady sailplane.

  • Okay, so I have a question.

I got this camera (DVR410) for my gf, and we can't figure out how to make it stop beeping whenever you press a button on it.

Does it do this with you, and do you know how to disable the beeping?

  • awesome

  • I'm selling a Vivitar DVR 550 on ebay. Message me on youtube. Only $50

  • hahahahaah

  • Wow, the Shire really has grown in developement. Isn't that Mordor over there by the mountain range? Where's Frodo?

  • Great video, love the improvisation with the camera mounting. The horse poo was the big bonus for me.LMAO. Oh, the joys of being British and eccentric! Well done.
