@hobbypotter this gut took a total of about an hour to do the carving, including the 10 minutes to put on the iron oxide. I've done another since then and it took me about 40 minutes, so I think I am getting better :)

@gtsdmusic yeah, this mug was unfired. the clay is moist enough that it stuck to the tool a bit, but I have since done this when it is a bit drier. Not so dry that it chips, but not so wet that is sticks.
