Can Art be used to express concern around community issues - SHOULD Art be used in that capacity? Rebelfrak explains her feelings around Art as a medium to stimulate dialoge and resolution around social and political issues within communities, as well as modes of beautifying and valuing one's community.

  • Art must be used to raise consciousness. Thank you.

  • I believe, and have seen first hand abroad, that artwork, in this case, artwork displayed publicly for the sole reason of stimulating dialogue (be it social justice or nationalized propaganda) can be an incredible tool with regard to uncovering voices once unheard and strengthening the social bonds particular to a given community. I once had a conversation with Prof. Jeff Ferrel that discussed these very things, check out his book - "Crimes of Style," It's an awesome read!

    Peace my friend =D

  • Awesome vid my friend!!! You posit the question, should art be used in the community to express issues and concerns (of the social and political sort) to stimulate dialogue and beautify the said community? My answer, yes, Yes, YES!!! People often render reality within their own minds be visualizing, I say "elephant," you picture the elephant and not the word. Art can invoke thoughts and feelings that words can not (not that this should provide reasoning for not reading).
