I've always found the staggering hypocrisy of the never ending task of condemning something but at the same time sanctioning it, when that same something originates from other quarters, quite appalling. It's amazing how the majority of people demonize Ty Cobb for being a racist, when we have people on Mt. Rushmore who owned human beings. Last I checked Ty Cobb never whipped anybody or broke up families by selling them off to other "masters".

He was 'allowed' to be racist. What are you kidding me? The whole damn major leagues were racist! He fit right in! He was just brutally honest and a little over-the-top psychotic about it. But he didnt make MLB whites-only. That happened long before he came along and continued long after he quit.

Greatest ballplayer of all-time. Cobb used his own money to build a hospital that was open to both blacks and whites alike.
