I obtained a VGA resolution vid cam that weighs just 18g and fastened it to a ferret harness. For orientation I placed the cam so the view, if they held still, should just include the right side of the back of their head. However, my ferrets generally do not like to wear anything. They are escape artists to the max. I am baffled by all the ferret clothes that are available for sale. I hoped that my new ferret Sage woiuld put up with one but it was not to be. On releasing him he immediately ran for one of the throw rugs that they like to play on and under and began tossing and turning in an effort to free himself of this strange device. He had the harnesss & cam combo off in less than a minute. Made him very frisky for a while though and he mock attacks me a few times at the end after he rids himself of the harness.

  • Ha ha......ferret cam! Brilliant!

  • @kaeso100

    Thanks for the visit.

Finding a harness he will wear without frantically trying to get out of it has been tough. I found one a few weeks ago that he may learn to tolerate. We've only been out in it once. When he's had on a few times I'll try affixing the cam again and see if we can't get a better ferret's eye view of the world.

  • @lloydhofer Yeah, I got my ferret about a month ago now, after a few days I put the harness on and took her out with my Rottie for walks. Yeah, at first she wriggled, but soon realised that the harness meant walks and fun, now she gets very excited when the harness comes out! Good luck with getting your stunt ferret to show us the world from a mad fuzzy point of view!!

I'm glad your ferret harness worked out for you. I did have Sage out this morning on his new harness. He wasn't able to shed it and charmed all the people he saw. Fingers crossed that he gets used to it. Subscribe or friend me and you'll be notified when I post my next attempt.

  • Wow, fast and manic. Are those eyelashes at one point? Try it on the dog next.

  • HI Yvette, I tried to reply to this post the day you made it but about half of my YT posts and comments have not posted or disappeared in the last 2 weeks or so. Hope this sticks.

I don't think you can make out eyelashes. Too small, but they do have marvelous whiskers, you might be detecting them.

They are zippy littles, but it's pretty much all show and play. In the 5+ years that I've owned ferrets they've never even scratched my skin with their teeth. It's all love bites, hah hah.

  • @lloydhofer Go Sage! Most people I meet go...'Er...Is that a rat?!' lol!

  • All my ferrets are a hoot. Well adjusted and secure in the environment I provide them. They love their daily playtimes out of the cage. As often as not they put themselves back in the cage when they get tired out. It's always smile time for me when they are out because they seem to so relish playing together and with me.

  • Looks fun.
