A duet during the Shahkilid-concert in Tropentheater, Amsterdam, by Shahram Mirjalali (tar) and Dadmehr (tombak)
Shahkilid is a Persian word meaning the key that opens all doors. The group was created by the Persian tombak master Dadmehr with the idea of opening musical horizons in Persian music. The musicians that make up this group are certainly open-minded, skilled at improvisation and capable of breaking down barriers between different musical styles. The musicians of Shahkilid stand out by their unique sound and take the challenge of pure instrumental improvisation based on Persian modes. They recorded their first album Nedaye Asemani on the Muziekpublique-label.
Dadmehr is a tombak master from Iran living in Belgium. He is running several projects such as Shahkilid (Iranian music meets classical European music) and improvisational meetings with top class musicians...
Shahram Mirjalali is a master on tar, and together with Dadmehr one of the key members of Shahkilid. Since years he's also playing in duo with ney-legend Hassan Kassai.
