Rumi: Say I Am You (Sufi poem)

Rumi's poems elegantly and consistently touch our inner being and inspire us to go beyond our limitations towards the Divine.

The music: The credits do appear at the end of this video, but it is by the composer, Eleni Karaindrou, and is the theme music called "Eternity and a Day" from the movie, Aggelopoulos.

A note on the music: This entire video was constructed in silence-only the poem and the images were put together without my knowing what music would be the right one. The music is so important to the interpretation of these poems. Rather than reading them, the music is my voice. When I 'laid' this beautiful piece of music over the video it fit perfectly. Few edits were made to accomodate the images to fit the music. They seem to be made for each other.

Note for those who overlook the message and want to 'claim' Rumi as their own (country, nationality, language) they've missed the point completely and these comments will be deleted.

I am a Falun Gong practitioner. Falun Dafa is a cultivation system in the Buddha School based on the principles of the Universe: 真 Truthfulness 善 Compassion 忍 Forbearance.

Since 1999 it has been brutally persecuted by the CCP in China. People are being killed, tortured, put into concentration camps and have organs harvested from live people, simply because of their belief. More than 3400 Falun Gong practitioners have died at the hands of CCP in the past 12 years.

@dauseraddict God is beyond logic.We are prisoners of our mind, locked inside our own small world. We're a tiny speck of His Creation, not able to see even a zillionith part of the whole. It may be irrational, as you say, but it is not a futile quest---this seeking after God.

Exploring life, gaining an understanding of ourselves, is the quest. Once you accept the concept of Infinite Grace, you are free.

I have kept this poem in my favorites now for years. I must say that I am not muslim. This poem though, is so very close to what I believe in my own inner being as a christian. It is wonderfully beautiful, and if people could take the words into their heart, there would be a lot less bitterness and strife across the world.

Freedom is merely a concept; an impossible concept, at that! A concept impossible to ever materialize for any of the creations!

All things amongst the creations are subject to laws, rules, regulations, limits, needs, desires, and so on.. and all of these things are reasons why you will NEVER be free!

"Freedom" is one of the oldest scams ever sold to mankind!

@dauseraddict ,so have you stopped looking? Stopped questioning the obvious? Who or what am I? If I am only supposed to only live for a certain period of time to eat ,drink ,do some ordinary work and be content,why then so much more was given to me ?
