Lincoln's primary thing was that he believed that it was okay to permit for the United States of America to retain slaves during the Civil War, while not freeing those that remained in Missouri, Kentucky, West Virginia, Maryland and Delaware, as well as those in captured territories like New Orleans, through the Emancipation Proclamation. His thing was to free the slaves in the control of the Confederate Sttes of America, though. What was that about freedom?
