@TheFudokan not really, he said that when he trains JU KUMITE, he don't use protection, and that's the point of the JU KUMITE, test your real habilities to attack, defend, and make your opponent quit the fight. i train shotokan karate (sport), and in our JU KUMITE we don't use any protection too (just teeth)
we only use protection in SHIAI KUMITE, wich is the sport kumite.

@drajkod well that is sport karate...you are certainly training traditional karate!!! in traditional karate of any style there is no protection of any kind...just protection for teeth!!!

myxaxa You use protectors :D in the real ju kumite just like we do it in Bulgaria we dont use any protectors !
