How can Alexander the Great be your King??

You are Slavs, you speak a dialect of Bulgarian,

your ancestors settled in the Southern Balkans

during the Ottoman period. In fact, your

ancestors weren't even in Europe when

    Alexander the Great (Megas Alexandros)

lived. In fact Alexander the great lived

3000 years before your Slavic ancestors

    settled in the southern Balkans.

  • @martin5555

And of course, Alexander the Great

    would refer to himself as:

    "I, the Hellene............."

  • eh! Ve la siete voluta...

  • The process of self Hellenisation has begun.

Macedonia Salutaris will be Hellenic again!

  • @Mainorgan In other words, the ancient Macedonians spoke a hybrid Aeolic / Doric Greek dialect of the north-western Greek language later modified by Philip to Attic Greek. [Roger Wilson, 'The Encyclopaedia of Ancient Greece' "The latest archaeological evidence NOW CONFIRMS that 'Macedonia' was named after a Greek speaking tribe or people called the 'Makedonoi'. Makedonoi is Greek for 'highlander' from the Greek {macos} meaning tall, high, long. Their local dialect was NW Greek"
  • @Mainorgan [Richard Stoneman, 'Alexander the Great' p.14] "In favour of the GREEK IDENTITY of the ancient Macedonians is what we know of their language, their place names, names of the months, and many of their personal names, especially royal names, which are GREEK IN ROOTS AND FORM. This suggests that they did not merely use Greek as a lingua franca, but spoke it AS NATIVES, though with a local accent."
  • @Mainorgan

And by the way, everyone in the 'world' as you put

it , have their OWN ethnic languages. In Britain alone

the English speak english, the Welsh speak Brythonic,

the Scots speak Gaelic, the Irish speak Irish Gaelic,

the Manx speak Goidelic and the Cornish speak Brythonic.

In France, the Bretons speak Brythonic and so it goes on.

Problem is your reasoning is infantile, and ignorant,

    you are ill informed.

  • @Mainorganiser

Lets put it in baby language so you can understand.

The language we call Greek today was called

Hellenic in ancient times. As Borza says, the

Macedonians came from the same PROTO-GREEK speaking

gene pool as the rest of the Greeks. That means that

the tribes entering Greece 2000 BC were genetically linked

because they all belonged to the proto-Greek speaking

family. Macedonians spoke a dialect of northern Greek,

which Philip modified to Attic Greek, used by Alexander

  • @HaggisMacfee There were no such thing like "greek" in that time.

Alexander the Great used helenic language in his conquering around the world just because macedonian and other languages in the regions were not developed on same level as the helenic language was.

It's the same like today. So by your calculations everyone in the world is englisham just because they speak english.

  • For all those who are interested in the ancient Greeks

and the origins of the ancient Greeks recommended

reading is the book by Dr. Vinci called "The Baltic Origins

of Homers Epic Tales." which backs the generally accepted

view of the Baltic origins of the Greeks.

Of course the ancient Macedonians of Alexander the

Great were a Greek speaking Greek race.

  • @jovo68 Hahahahahahaha!!!!! Sub-Saharan??? Africa and Persia???LMFAO!!! What sort of Drugs are you on??? YOU Slavs are the ones from Central Asia, Just look at Wiki - Slav ethnic roots. You speak Bulgarian because you are descendants of Slav Bulgars who settled in the Southern Balkans during the Ottoman occupation. Nothing to do with the ancient Macedonians who were Greeks. Greek race originated from south east of the Baltic sea. ["Baltic origins of ancient Greeks" (Vinci)]
