In this video, I demonstrate the use of power sources other than the one in the programmer. I discuss the use of batteries, wall adapters and the USB.

  • Thanks alot for these videos....you're awesome...BIG RESPECT for you...!!

  • @frankfill2050 Thanks!

  • If I had a 12v input from my AC/DC wall plug would I use the same regulator or would I use a different one?

  • @Ritztro You may mean 12v output and should say DC. You can use up to 30v with a 7805 regulator. The MAX603 (5v regulator) can only receive +12 volts and will not be able to handle more as this is the absolute maximum voltage rating. If you want to use the wall adapter that outputs 12v DC, then you will need to use the 7805 regulator.

  • Hi:

I see there is more information on NewbieHack then is seen here. I will have to go there after viewing the videos. If the webpage for power sourced is there I am unable to locate it. You mentioned the capacitor across the Positive and ground on the chip. Where is that information in the PDF on the chip? I skimmed it and can't find where that information is located. I was wondering what the value was as I wanted to try to hook up my bread board with the chip.

    Thanks for your videos.

    Don

  • @amtpdb1 Hey Don, I haven't forgotten about you. I am conjuring up in my mind how I would like to provide this information so it benefits others. I am drafting the textual content on the power sources webpage this weekend. I will address the use of the capacitors.

  • Thanks- I don't mean to seem to try to push- just very interested in your videos and their content.

    Have a nice weekend.

    Don

  • @anajonesr Awesome! I can't wait for it, your videos are great! Thanks!

  • @amtpdb1 The information has not been posted yet. I will have it over the weekend.

  • @RichTronix The A/D is the next video. I will be producing it over the weekend.

  • I'd like to see a tutorial about ADC's. Whenever I set mine up it does weird things.
