A West Texas teen walks into this photo booth, expecting to pay two dollars for pictures, but when she walks out, picture in hand, she's lost more than $400.

"$439.00."

to be exact.

"Her wallet fell out of her purse and stayed in the booth."

The victim, the girl in the maroon shirt, walks away, missing wallet unnoticed.

"When she came back, the wallet was still there, but the money was gone."

And the story would have ended right there, had it not been for Music City Mall's security cameras.

"We have 40 cameras, inside and outside- we use them all the time."

As soon as the missing wallet is reported: rewind the tape. Mall police spot two girls enter the booth, immediately after our victim leaves.

"Using the video and also the officers on the floor, we were able to locate two females and recover the money."

The two 16-year old girls are caught red-handed, as they're getting their hair done down at a mall salon. All of the money is returned, but one girl refuses to take the blame.

"She blamed it on the victim for leaving the money in there."

Instead of being a good samaritan, and turning on the wallet with cash to lost and found.

The story got us wondering? What would you do if you found a wallet full of cash?

"What goes around come around. I've taken moeny out of the wallet, and I've lost twice as much."

Leaving some to believe, karma and video footage could come back to haunt you.

"I wouldn't take it. I've been in that same situation."

"I'd have a guilty conscious if I did that to someone else."

"You hope there's honest people out there."

When cameras can't be.

No charges have been filed against the teens, but that's not always the case, so thieves beware. And shoppers, if you stop to take a pictures, watch out for your wallet.

  • Here in Japan it is common for Japanese to carry LOTS of money in their wallet. I was coming home from a day of basketball in a neighboring city, kinda late at night sometime after 9:00 i was the only one in the train car. and I sat down. There was a waist strap pouch and inside a louis vuitton wallet (i was thinking oh no) i looked inside. there was 200,000¥ which 2,000$, a cellphone and a train pass. Lets just say i went 50/50 lol. Unless the train conductor took the other half : D

  • what you give out comes back to you:)

but to say "why was she caring 400 $ around?"... well, you have to be stupid to blame it on her:D
