Quick test of the BKP MM set in my guitar.

My thoughts -- They're great for basswood. Despite BKP's chart showing that they have a scooped midrange, they actually have tons of grind. They don't really sound like EMGs, they're not as compressed as EMGs and they aren't as "direct" as EMGs, but they're still very solid pickups. And yes, I know the guitar is filthy.

I used the following gear:

Ibanez RG1527 with a calibrated Bareknuckle Pickups Miracle Man set
5150 III with a Mesa/Boogie 4x12 Traditional Cab. Channel 3 for rhythm, channel 2 for lead
Modded Tubescreamer
Apogee Duet
SM57
Logic 9 Pro
EZDrummer's Drumkit From Hell
Spectrasonics' Trilian

  • I'm ordering a set for my rgd420. What leg length did you use? 1/2" or 1/4"?

  • @zaoisgood It's always better to get shorter legs as they'll fit in any guitar. Longer legs won't fit in all guitars.

  • nice demo man! :D got a couple questions: how are you liking the MM? and how would you think a Stockholm-Neck/MM-bridge combination would sound? thanks. again, nice demo!

  • @Output9595 Thanks a ton for the complement and comment. I've never tried the Stockholm pickup, unfortunately. The MM seems to be their most compressed model, so if you're looking for something super open, you might want to look at something else. It also depends on your guitar construction, body wood, amp, playing style, etc.

  • Great demo. These pickups have a unique sound, but its awesome. There is nothing like it in my opinion. Im definitely gonna look into playing with one myself after watching this vid. Thx man

  • hey man. nice demo. Do you think that Miracle Man pickups could handle detuned stuff as well? What are you tuned to? I have the same guitar and a Peavey 6505+ head and I need really articulate sound for the fast and more technical rythms tuned to A, but clean a nice lead sound for the the leads and cleans. Do you think I shoul go for Miracle Man or maybe rather try out Aftermaths? thanks for your reply..

  • holy fuck dude your good!

  • sounds great

  • rhythm guitar has too many mids, overwhelms the lead tone.
