**update: Problem solved by cleaning the electrical contacts behind the twitchy servo, using this method here: http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=289666

Original description: My mcpx shakes, even with a brand new feathering spindle. Note how it's not shaking constantly, but intermittently - almost cyclically. That makes me think that even my brand new feathering spindle is not perfectly straight. This is the 2nd spindle I've tested with similar results. What do you think?

  • I've had the mCPx for 1 week now and i'm getting a bit annoyed with it.

My tailservo almost burned on day 1, i took off the battery before it got too hot. Second, it vibrates alot but that maybe due to the servo almost getting fried. Third, the servo's are not functioning properly after a while, the right one is stuck sometimes and the tail and right-one bounce up and down. I hardly crashed it but the controls become unstable due to the servo-issues.

They need cleaning after a few days?

  • @sonykroket It sounds like there's a problem with your mcpx. A bad crash may have damaged the servos. If it never behaved properly out of the box you may have a defective unit. I would contact the shop where you bought it or HorizonHobby for advice. I clean my servos once every 15-20 batteries (more if I'm doing a lot of crashing).

  • Are you sure the Main Gear is really in place? I thought that in the beginning as well. But it was not! The Main Shaft is visible (2mm)through the Main Gear. Press it carefully down until you hear a klick. Good luck!

  • @2209wolf Yeah, got that part dialed! I used some contact cleaner to wipe down the potentiometer track in the twitchy servo and presto!! Problem solved. Just a case of dirty contacts. I used this method on 'Helifreak' dot com. Search for a thread titled: "Vibration or shakes? CHECK THIS!" for the how-to.

  • i can think of 2 things either your main shaft has a crack in it or the send the second thing is the your mail gear is no sitting flt on the main shaft flat spot

  • @dwahid Thanks, those are both great suggestions. Unfortunately I couldn't detect any cracks in the main shaft by gently pressing a screwdriver down the middle of the shaft, and the main gear was properly set. Still trying to isolate the cause of the wobble....

Thanks for your reply, Well, it flew into a couch once because of the rearservo failing but i never crashed it again after that. I'm receiving a new rearservo soon and everything else seems to work ok now. I have a friend that had a fried logicboard when he bought his mXPx 2 weeks ago. It seems the servos aren't adressed properly by it .

Anyways, i've been flying my butt off for a week now. I put 1 grommet on the pushrod/swashplate-link and it doesnt vibrate anymore

    Yay!

  • I should mention, the main gear was in place, and I've put canopy grommets on the aileron and pitch swash balls to provide more stability to the servo links.
