Reals back! I haven't forgotten about him I just haven't filmed him in a long time. When he arrived in Cali from Oklahoma his name was Earl... and no offense to people named Earl but it didn't seem fitting for the pretty black fox trotter so we scrambled Earl and came up with Real (Re-al). Hes been doing awesome. Previously, I just free jumped him in his round pen over stacked caveletti (see other video) but i recently started jumping on him. Started on the lunge because hes real looky at new fences. He thinks every obstacle outside his yard is a monster. He is super athletic but seems to worry about jumping freely with me on his back. Losing a rider is very traumatic for him, im not sure why... Anywy, I started him bareback because he has a "thing" about saddles, especially new ones. His saddle is some kind of Tucker "Equitation Endurance"... its weird looks like a plantation saddle so no good for jumping. And from what I have seen of endurance riders they don't really care about eq so go figure... As you can see I have trouble jumping him off the left lead. He canters fine then about 4 strides out from the jump he gets behind my leg and slows into a shuffle so he can take a better look at the fence. It will get better in time, I'd rather him be slow and careful than rush and panicky. Advice welcome- from any subscribers or gaited horse people. If your rude or unjustly critical I will make you look stupid. Thanks guys! Subscribe to see Real's progress.

  • My off the track standardbred now goes beautifully in eventing. After he was taken off the track we did a lot of work with a dressage trainer, really make sure that his inside hind leg is under him, it does wonders to their balance in the canter. To get the inside hind leg, we did tons of leg yields and other lateral work. We jumped him for a while at the trot, keeping cantering and jumping as 2 seperate things, and eventually combined them. It seemed to click for my boy by doing steps!

  • @peaceloveandjumpers LOL, my mft, is pretty good :)

  • very beautiful horse!x

  • @horsepaw101 thank you! will pass along compliment to his owner :)
