These commercials aired on local Fox affiliate KTVU in March of 1989.

1. "Punky Brewster" Commercial Bumper
2. Frosted Flakes (Anthropomorphic cartoon tigers are *awesome* at white water rafting! Also: Garfield magic tricks!)
3. Naturalizer Shoe Event
4. Promo for "Silver Spoons"
5. "Punky Brewster" Commercial Bumpers
6. Twizzlers (There's just something about the concept of floating mouths biting things that's always creeped me out. I wonder why?)
7. WWF at the Cow Palace (With Macho Man Randy Savage vs. The Ultimate Warrior! Also: The Fabulous Rougeau Bros., The Bushwhackers, Akeem and Big John Studd! I'm just going to pretend I know who all of these people are)
8. Ortho Mattresses
9. The Woodsy Team PSA (Hmm, I looked quite a bit like the kid at 3:25 as a four year old)
10. Grape Nuts (What's up with that tiny cereal box?)
11. Pepsi (This is actually pretty rare: this ad was pulled soon after Madonna's "controversial" music video for "Like A Prayer" came out)
12. Autowest Toyota Warehouse
13. Promo for "Three's Company"
14. Foot Locker
15. Foot Locker
16. TV Spot for "The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen"
17. NyQuil (Good god, what is that noise at 6:32? A wounded eagle?)
18. Clothestime
19. Missing Kid PSA (With John Walsh. Sad...)
20. Skyhawk At Great America
21. Pedia Care (These kids are cute. The animated boxes, however, are frightening)
22. Promo for "Legend" (Tim Curry is awesome)
23. Eureka! Lotto Scratcher
24. Promo for "Newhart" (I miss the days when "Nick At Nite" played this show)

  • For whatever reason, that Twizzlers ad was imprinted on my memory. I never did like the stuff (they tasted like slightly flavored plastic).

I don't know if they have Dairy Queens on the west coast, but if you don't like disembodied lips, I'd avoid seeing their commercials.

The reason that Grape-Nuts box was so tiny? It's because when you take your first bite and realize it's perhaps the worst cereal you've ever had, you won't have to waste as much.

  • @MeInTX We have Dairy Queen over here, but it definitely isn't advertised on TV.

  • Pretty sure I had a nightmare about that Twizzler commercial. Seriously weird memories when I saw it again. (Kinda like it now though)

I've never watched Punky Brewster. Am I missing anything amazing? Because seriously.... "Punky Power"?

  • I was basically forced to watch it, since my older sister had reign over the family room TV in those days. Each episode had the kids face some sort of horrible, depressing problem and learning some sort of lesson.

Lessons aside, some of the issues tackled just seem incredibly intense and messed up for a kids show.

The episode with the giant spider, "Perils Of Punky" is on youtube. It's seriously like highly concentrated nightmare fuel. +Recommended

  • NOW PAY ATTENTION

  • I can remember that Frosted Flakes commerial as if it had aired yesterday, but I do not remember any of the others from this set.

  • I love the breaking of the forth wall in the Grape Nuts commercial. Clever.

  • 2:26

    RIP Randy Savage =(

  • LOL memories

  • God, the Twizzlers commercial. I distinctly remember that one. Floating heads, mouths, body parts, or anything unnatural like that creeped me out as a kid and the late 80's and early 90's was extremely guilty of that. I think the video for Groove is in the Heart pretty much sums it up.

  • The little girl in the Pepsi Commercial looks like Zoey Deschanel
