Also, there're welfare programs that provide health insurance. Medi-Cal is what we call it in California. I'm actually fairly certain that these welfare programs are part of the reason that healthcare is so expensive for the rest of us, already.

I completely agree on that point. This idea that there's 50 million people dying on the streestw ho can't get health care is a farce. Most people could afford health care if they turn off thier satallite, and cell phones and learn to prioritize better. I have no cell phone, and I buy my own health care and I am poor, but I prioritize. People need to understand there's no such thing as a free lunch.

I think it's important to differentiate between the availability of "health care" vs the availability of "health insurance."
Are people actually deprived of healthcare, in the United States? I don't think so. I think they're just unhappy that they have to pay for it.

I agree. Realistically the vast majoritity of what Bush/Obama has done these last several years is outright unconstitutional as it is. The fact is that when the government gets involved things get much much worse. Most of the uninsured could be insured if they wanted to be. 50 million is a number long discredited long ago. The number is actually closer to 10 million.

Send your message to your senators: Mr Karl Levin and Ms Debbie Stabenow, and .. why not ... to Bill O'Reilly. His show has great visibility ! Many of us, with the exception with the "die-hard" agrarians (read "conservatives") realize we need "a public option" - the only way we can achieve at least some basic health care for all.
