If a Christian commits suicide do they still go to heaven? Is suicide an unforgivable sin?

  • Pastor Dan:

I have to disagree with you on this. What is blasphemy? Its profane words or actions towards God. Suicide I believe is a form of profane action towards God.

Suicide is no longer trusting or believing that God will make things better in your life. Its a rejection of the gift of life that God has given you. If that isn't a profane action, then I don't know what is.

God was with me during my time when I was taking steps toward suicide.God reveals much to those with a broken spirit

  • Joker, agreed suicide is a profane action. But blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is NOT suicide. Jesus doesn't say blasphemy is unforgivable--he is more specific than that. Suicide is never acceptable--it is horrible. It is something I would not fool around with or bet on. The question that can be asked is if a person who does this was EVER a believer--that is a more legitimate question. All sins but blasphemy of the Holy Spirit are forgiven at the Cross of Christ.

  • Pastor Dan:

I can tell you that I am a believer and have been a believer. I have seen and experienced things that is attributable to Jesus in my lifetime but there are things that can happen to you in life that makes death more bearable than life.

So questioning whether or not someone has ever been a believer is a good question to pose but don't ever come to the assumption that they wasn't a believer.

Job for instance, made reference to wishing he had never been born, did he not?

  • That's great news! Glad to know that you have faith in Jesus alone. I have also been through many trials and see a lot of death and disaster around me. Job did indeed wish he had never been born but he didn't kill himself even when his friends told him to just "curse God" and be done with it. He persevered. I don't come to any assumption about a person's salvation--God alone can judge. But it is a legit question for someone who is struggling with this temptation. There is a difference--

  • between temptation and sinful action. Temptation to commit suicide and feeling depressed and opressed is different than actually doing the deed. Again, I would not presume to know who is saved and how is not--only Jesus knows and will be the judge. My encouragement to those who have had a loved one do this is that the sin itself doesn't take away salvation or erase it. Jesus alone knows who is truly a follower.

  • Hey bro I don't think this video in any way shape or form says anything along the lines of telling people to commit suicide Of course I wouldn't tell someone to commit suicide. To suggest that I would or that this answer to a question suggests that is ridiculous! "Suicide is a heinous sin" direct quote from the video. But do the Scriptures say one is not a Christian who sins? Certainly not! Read Romans 7 for more on this. The Bible teaches there is one unforgiveable sin--it is not suicide

  • @grpcreach probably while in the blasphemous state youre not forgiven but cant you repent from being blasphemous and be forgiven of it?

  • i know this is an old video but its my first time seeing it. I actually have a question about blasphemy. you see i am a christian now, but havent always been that way. when i was a teenager i was into paganism and i used to make fun of christianity and the teachings of god. if that is blasphemy and blasphemy is unforgiven, does that mean im damned. please respond to this. it is something that has been weighing heavy on me for over a decade.. thank you and god bless.

  • I wouldn't commit suidice, because I'm too scared that after I off myself, I'd end up falling down this long, dark tunnel, and slamming down in to somewhere I really don't want to be. So, I'd just tough it out!

  • God's words given to a modern prophet "So then, if such a man, lead away into sorrows and lies by the devil, Casts his gift of life away, he has given into the purposes of the devil...This man has committed murder of self...Is he lost?...No!...I do not lose any The Father has given Me." • @PurpleJacketJoker i would have to disagree with you. unless you angrily take your own life to deliberately offend god then it is not a form of blasphemy. It might be self blasphemy but not towards god.

Please get back to me when you have the time.
