Isaac Levitan was a manic-depressive whose landscape art of Russian countryside is legendary. This composition reflects the mood of the artist as told in a fictional tale by another Russian great - Anton Chekhov and set to the soundtrack of heavy-metal composition inspired by this painting.

  • What a tremendously refined artist! The artist, having great depths of despair, yet still looking for beauty. There is beauty. There is God. Its not a popular idea these days, but neither is beauty. And beauty is one way God touches us so we can touch Him. But He is not so outward, to be found so easily in temporal sense of time and touch, yet He desires to be found, so He seeks us where we are. We are His own, having wandered off looking for beauty, reality, hope, but lost He finds us.
