stupid PSA - static electricity blows up gas stations

A cheesy public service announcement I made for a class about the "danger" of using your cell phone while filling up your car.

Apparently it isn't the static from cell phones that cause the fires. When filling up, people go back into their car to get their wallet, purse, etc. by sliding over the driver's seat to the passenger seat. This is what creates the static and the discharge from when you touch the pump is what causes the spark.. Well .. apparently according to my physics teacher..

Yep, that's how it happens. The whole cell phone thing is a total myth, except for the fact that people don't pay attention when they're talking on the phone and get into trouble that way.

You're right on two out of three. smoking is very bad, getting back in the car is bad. However, talking on a cell phone is harmless. There is virtually no way for a cell phone to ignite the fumes.

@oconell watch the news it's not the lamp I tried how about prove it by shooting a video of the lamp reacting to the petrol it's the phone as proven a gas station caught on fire when this guy went back and forth with a phone and it was a very dark night so can you prove that?

cellphones don't cause this what the fuck is literaly a milionth of a volt going to do to something that requires at least 150 volts to ignite i don't get it besides please touch the floor your car to discharge the static the only true thing in this PSA is don't smoke this is literaly causing more problems then it is stopping
