@BESTBBQDUDE Pending maybe there's might be local bi-laws or provincial things... but I'm not aware of any in Ontario. Check out these publications if you're interested in amateur prospecting... Rock & Gem and The Prospector. They give information and how to about building the necessary equipment, techniques for panning and general information on the subject. Happy hunting!

@MrWarProfiteer I just thought that there would be some environmental laws getting in the way. I'm new to the whole prospecting thing; I'll be trying out a few spots in the Lanark Highlands in the spring.
