On December 13, 2007, Rodriguez announced the signing of a new 10-year contract with the Yankees, reportedly worth $275 million and $30 million more if he breaks the all-time home run record of 762, making it the richest contract in baseball history.
However, press talks more about his personal life than his achievements as player.
On May 27, 2007, Rodriguez was spotted at a Toronto strip club with Joslyn Noel Morse, an exotic dancer with Scores Las Vegas who was featured in Playboy's 2001 magazine.
On July 2, 2008, the New York Daily News reported that Rodriguez and his wife had separated, after rumors published in Us Weekly magazine, about a possible affair between A-Rod and pop singer Madonna, claims Madonna later denied.
Why is Alex Rodriguez such a polarizing figure? Will the negative press hurt his image?

A-Rod is a victim of his own doing. He try's to live up to this image of this perfect athlete. If he would stop trying to put on this front and just be himself he would be much better off.

Arod isn;t a role mmodel, he's an athlete. He swings a bat and catches a ball, he's not a teacher, doctor, lawyer, politician or anyone else who actually impacts other people's lives.

I don't have anything against A-Rod, but I gotta agree with Cesar when he says for someone to be your favorite person in the world you look at the whole package, the "whole enchilada." He is not the perfect role model, and that has nothing to do with him being a heck of an athlete, he is very skillful, but truth to be told, he is not precisely the hero you want your children to follow...

It will pass. Till the next major star does something deemed "MEDIA WORTHY" A-rod is the flavor of the week.
