Queen Mary 2 is larger. The QM2 is approx. 151,000 tons and 1100 feet long while the Explorer of the Seas is 137,000 tons and 1020 feet long. The larger Independence of the Seas Class is slightly larger than QM2 but not as long.

Even the cruise professionals named Cunard a 6 star brand, and RCI is no where to be seen. QM2 is premium while Oasis is just mass market. QM2 has a passenger space ratio of 57.8. Oasis of the seas passenger space ratio is 40.7

@bekimsp In other words QM2 isn't meant to have what Carnival and RCI offer, because she is an Ocean Liner. During the Golden Age Of Ocean Travel Ocean Liners didn't offer what Carnival, and RCI offer.

QM2 is a 6 Star Ocean Liner. The Cruise Guy even said it himself. There are many sources on the Net proving Cunard is a 6 star company, along with other companies such as the Yachts of Seabourn.

@bekimsp Queen Mary 2 isn't supposed to offer the things oasis of the seas offers, because Queen Mary 2 is a 6 star ocean liner. Notice Ocean Liners are different to Cruise ships. Ocean Liners aren't supposed to have water parks, central park, aqua theater, malls, ice rinks. Ocean Liners are about ultimate luxury and elegance. For example QM2 largest suite is ~2,000 square feet, but you can combine all 4 of these suites and create a 9,000 square feet suite which would be the largest at sea.

QM2 is a premium luxury liner w/some incredible cabins and suites. Explorer is a nice mass market cruise ship geared to a different clientele. QM2 is also far faster than Explorer and can easily handle the rough N Atlantic at high-speed while Explorer would have to slow down. Two completely different types of ships-one a Cruise ship and one a fast high-end World ocean liner.
